Administration
Meet Jean. Actually you probably have already. She does many things here.
Every weekday morning Jean drives to work. She likes the way landscape changes on her way in.
There are high-rise buildings, strip malls, big-box stores and parking lots around her as she steps into her car. Leaving the city's commercial centre she passes residential suburbs and industries on the urban fringe and into the rural Green Belt. She steps out of her car surrounded by vineyards stretching back to the tree-topped Niagara Escarpment.
Jean arrived in Niagara, and joined Malivoire, seven years ago. Her responsibilities have grown with the winery.
Officially she oversees Administration, the winery's behind-the-scenes everyday functions. She takes care of telephone and e-mail orders, sends and answers correspondence, keeps records, handles the money.
Unofficially, if you're waiting for help in the wine shop or the loading dock, Jean is on the scene. If you're looking for a winery staff member Jean will find them. If you leave something running Jean will hear it. When supplies run low Jean replaces them. You get the idea. Too bad there's only one of her. We need a Jean pool.
Jean has a busy day every day. Fortunately her drive home is just as nice as the drive to work.
Sometimes better.
