People Are Talking About Malivoire ...

2006 Pinot Gris VQA:
"Medium straw with lightly oxidized green tint in colour. Lime, lemon, red apple, tangerine and minerals on its nose. Light to medium bodied with under-ripe tropical fruit and tart apple flavours, great acidity and a lingering, fresh lime pulp finish. Match it with tomato marinated pork kebabs. Great value." - Zoltan Szabo (Jan-08)

“… peach blossom and peach pit bouquet; drier and less extracted than previous vintages with a fine dry, white peach and citrus flavour and a crisp minerally finish. ****” Tony Aspler (Feb-08)

“For all round drinkability the star white is 06 Pinot Gris. Fruity, fresh and friendly”. Billy Munnelly (Feb-08)

2006 Chardonnay VQA:
“Medium straw colour; toasty oak, spicy, green apple bouquet; richer on the palate than the nose suggests with spicy pineapple flavours and lively acidity. Great length. ****½ “. Tony Aspler(Feb-08)

“The 06 Chardonnay  is fresh, lean, classy and suited to summer aperitif or a patio lunch”. Billy Munnelly (Feb-08)

2006 Ladybug Rosé VQA:
“If you're in the dog house because you forgot the Valentines Day card, find yourself a bottle of Malivoire Ladybug Rosé 2006. She'll love it. For my money it's the best Ontario pink wine that doesn't only look pretty but goes very well with a range of dishes. The wine is orange-pink in colour with a fragrant bouquet of raspberries. It's medium-bodied, dry with a tangerine and raspberry flavour and just a hint of green pepper from the Cabernet Franc that dominates the blend. You can match this wine with fish dishes or white meats. And it's delicious with onion soup. That's Malivoire Ladybug Rosé 2006”. Tony Aspler (Feb-08)

“Malivoire is very committed to dry Rosé and the 06 ‘Ladybug’  was a hit with a platter of shaved chorizo. Every bottle I had this summer was a hit with whatever food was on the table” Billy Munnelly (Feb-08)

2005 Gamay VQA:
“… deep ruby colour; spicy, black cherry nose; well structured, elegant, fresh and lively with good acidity. Well integrated oak. **** (I agree with Martin Malivoire that this is a sadly neglected variety in Ontario)”. Tony Aspler (Feb-08)

“… my favourite, the 05 Gamay .  A red that’s good with almost anything, especially in summer. I’d like to see more wineries following Malivoire’s lead with Gamay”. Billy Munnelly (Feb-08)

2005 Pinot Noir VQA:
"700 cases made only. Red cherry, pomegranate, spicy sweet peony, mandarin orange and fresh trumpet mushroom  aromas. Medium bodied with intense flavours and long finish. A great Pinot by "hands-in-the-dirt-winemaker" Shiraz Mottiar. I had it with Marc Thuet's boudin noir au jus and fresh white truffle mash and I was a happy camper! 4 stars out of 5". Zoltan Szabo (Jan-08)

“Impressively deep colour; creamy oak and sweet black raspberry nose; firmly structured with concentrated dry extract and supple tannins. ****”. Tony Aspler (Feb-08)

“Pinot is Martin’s baby and the 05  is very characterful with a mix of tasty fruit and an earthy/gamey character – perfect Pinot. It’s crying out for grilled meat and good company”. Billy Munnelly (Feb-08)
