Eco incentives to shop local this Earth Day

Last week I went to the launch of Malivoire's re-branded bottle lineup. The eco-gourmet celebration served up samples of wine made with Niagara Peninsula grapes and a spread of Ontario cheeses. I'm sure the twigs chef Jamie Kennedy used to skewer charred chunks of lamb were even foraged from a forest within 100 miles of the party at the Richmond, Toronto's "first green event venue."

We all left with a reusable wine tote stocked with bottles of 2008 rosé and pinot gris and a Malivoire baseball cap. With a Made In China tag.
