2009 patience chart

Visitors to the winery ask why it’s so quiet for
this time of year. Where are the trucks, tractors
and reverberating machinery of September?
Where is that trademark wall-of-grape fragrance
that blasts you in the face as you open the wine
shop door? The core elements of an excellent
vintage don’t change; sunlight, heat and
adequate rain. This year however, excellence
will also demand perseverance, composure and
forbearance. Our 2009 wines will delight you,
but it’s a year that will not bend to our wishes or
timetable. Think of it as the child who stays out
late, promising but headstrong. October is going
to be busy and we will not be planning a fall
event as a result. Our next newsletter will
outline our special plans for Saturdays at the
winery in November.
