Yes, Courtney is here… but the fifth vintage of this
highly sought-after red is the most elusive yet.
The 2007 fruit nurtured in our Courtney block redeemed all the
promise of that celebrated growing season. Likewise, the vineyard also
exhibited 2007’s characteristically low yields. At eighty cases, this will
be our smallest-yet Courtney Gamay release and won’t last long.
Could anything about this wine disappoint the fortunate
few who get some? Not a chance.
The complex, spicy nose is abundant with black plum, cherry,
blackberry, spearmint and black licorice.
Sumptuous and well-structured in the mouth, the wine evinces
concentrated flavours of strawberry compote, raspberry, hazelnut,
cocoa and well-integrated oak.

2008 Guilty Men
In this space last month, we previewed a new wine
we’re adding to our VQA red wine line up. Guilty Men
is a traditional blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet
Franc and Merlot, “Malivoirized” with an infusion of
Pinot Noir and Gamay. The story of this wine’s curious
name is explained on the back label and describes
how Martin Malivoire once declared that he would
never embrace Cabernet-Merlot blends! In sympathy
with Martin and all other men who’ve had to apologize
for their own words, we proudly offer Guilty Men.
Spicy plum, black cherry and cedar on the nose.
The mouthfeel is round and smooth, awakening the
palate to flavours of raspberry, blackberry, black currant
and dark chocolate.
