Our Vineyards

Sustainable Farming

Malivoire currently farms four vineyards within the Niagara Peninsula Viticultural Area, in two Sub-designations: the Moira, Estate and Eastman vineyards on Beamsville Bench, and the Epp vineyard on Twenty Mile Bench. Malivoire owns the Moira and Estate vineyards and farms the Epp and Eastman vineyards under lease.

All were chosen to seize the advantages of "the Bench Effect", which requires a combination of elevation and lake-facing slope. This facilitates a flow of precipitation and cold air away from the vineyard, leaving it drier and slightly warmer.

Moira Vineyard

		Size: 6 hectares dedicated to grape production Soil Composition: Glacial till, calciferous clay, loam Varieties Grown / Rootstocks / Density: Pinot Noir 115/3309 /3650 vines per hectare Pinot Noir 777/Riparia Gloire and 3309/3650 vines per hectare Chardonnay 96 / S04 and 3309 / 2750 vines per hectare When Planted: 1997 - 2004 Producing for Malivoire Since: 1997 Comments: Organic grape production is limited to a six-hectare section of this property. The other, roughly equal portion has been reserved as a natural habitat for indigenous flora and fauna.



Estate Vineyard

Epp Vineyard

		Size: 4 hectares Soil Composition: Glacial till, silty clay loam Varieties Grown / Density: Cabernet Franc / 3450 vines per hectare Chardonnay / 3450 vines per hectare Gamay / 3450 vines per hectare Marechal Foch / 1700 vines per hectare When Planted: 1975 Producing for Malivoire Since: 1998



Eastman Vineyard
