2006 Melon
2006 Melon

Like other "primeur" wine styles, Malivoire releases its Melon early as the wine is meant to be enjoyed very young. Crisp, cleansing and refreshing in the mouth.

Winemaker's Notes:
These grapes were harvested from the Winery's Estate vineyard on the Beamsville Bench September 17, 2006 at 19.2 degrees brix and 11.7 grams titratable acidity. Cool-fermented dry, it was bottled young for full fruitiness on Decmber 20th, 2007. Intriguingly different from its previous four vintages, this Malivoire Melon offers gentle aromas of Meyer lemon, honeycomb, banana popsicle, manzana liqueur and the scent of sea spray. What carries to your mouth are flavours of green apple, and lemon married to a lively acidic spine. In order to capture this wine's extreme youthfulness, it was minimally processed and may throw harmless tartrate crystals (wine diamonds) when chilled.

Food Pairings:
This tiny quantity was made to satisfy proprietor Martin Malivoire’s desire for the quintessential oyster wine.

Reviews:
"Brilliant light straw colour. Smells like fresh green apples, apple blossom and limestone. Light, but gutsy, dry and very tart with citrus, fresh herb, mineral flavours and finish.. Try it with meaty Irish Flat Galway oysters....That's what I did the other night at Starfish and the match was just spot on! 4 stars out of 5". Zoltan Szabo

“This is the driest wine you'll find in Ontario: pale straw in colour with a minerally stony, citrus flavour; tart and lemony. Really wakes up the palate and perfect with the mussels we sampled it with. ***½” Tony Aspler
