2008 Old Vines Foch VQA

Dark purple in the glass, the nose infers plum jam, raisin, juniper, spice box and autumn leaves. Silky smooth on the palate, intense flavours point to, dark roast coffee, wild blueberry, and vanilla, leaving a characteristically long, savoury finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Yielding less than 2 tonnes per acre, the fruit from these “old vines” were harvested by hand on the 28th of September. At 20.3 brix, 10.5 g/l acidity and a pH of 3.20, these ideal grapes were sorted and de-stemmed to our open top fermenters. This Marechal Foch was fermented on the skins for 12 days. Aged in American oak barrels for 9 months, one quarter new, this wine was bottled in September of 2009.
